Features
Wireless Connectivity
The NanoPi R2S is equipped with a dual-band wireless adapter that supports speeds of up to 150Mbps on the 2.4G band and 433Mbps on the 5G band. This allows you to convert a public network, whether wired or wireless, into a private Wi-Fi network for secure surfing. With the ability to support an external USB Wi-Fi adapter, you can easily connect to a variety of networks and stay connected no matter where you are.
Open Source & Programmable
One of the key features of the NanoPi R2S is its support for FriendlyWrt, a customized system based on the OpenWrt distribution. This makes the router open source and highly programmable, making it ideal for developing IoT applications, NAS applications, smart home gateways, and more. With the ability to customize and modify the software to suit your needs, the possibilities are endless.
Dual Gigabit Ethernet Ports
In addition to its wireless capabilities, the NanoPi R2S also features two Gigabit Ethernet ports. One port is directly extended from the SoC, while the other is converted from a USB 3.0 connection. This allows for lightning-fast speeds of up to 941 Mbps for both downloads and uploads, ensuring a smooth and reliable connection for all your devices.
Larger Storage & Extensibility
The NanoPi R2S comes equipped with 1GB of DDR4 RAM and a MicroSD slot that supports up to 128GB of additional storage. I absolutely enjoy and love this device! Would give it 10 stars if I could.(aluminum CNC model)
I use this to managed NAT/DHCP on my whole network(home use). I have 2 access points, 4 dumb switches (with various devices on each) and 5 powerline ethernet devices in 5 rooms. I have around 50+ devices on my network(haklf of them are wireless, smart home stuff/etc). This little magical box of goodness and fun manages everything beautifully. I really love it and have had no issues with it. It stays cool under pressure and has a lot of amazing options. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking not just for a portable router but to replace an existing one as it rocks a quad core with 1gb of ram(more than enough to handle a complicated network)Even if you don’t use it for constant use, its a gem of functionality and is alot of fun to play around with. Especially if you love any kind of electronic pie like me. I think SBC’s are the most fun computers to tinker with and I work at a data center with much larger equipment and devices. I don’t think there is anything else like this on the market (size, performance, functionality). Been waiting awhile for a device like this to show up on my amazon page.Special thanks to those who created this little cutey that packs a punch!

Incomplete
Requires downloads and special processes to install the software – nothing like the ease of a Raspberry pi

frustration to the max
I bought two of these. the 1st worked OK in testing, but my networking needs mean two. The 2nd took a month to get here, worked for about 5 minutes, and then took another month to diagnose as defective. now the return window is closed, so it’s trash. that means the other one is trash too, even though it works. I need two for this project. uggg. now I have to start over.

Different power cable than stated
I got my box yesterday and I like it. Just wanted to let people know that it did NOT come with a micro USB connection for the power supply. Instead it came with a USB C type connection. Not a big problem for me, but I had already purchased a micro USB power supply that I can not use with this device.

Rock solid stable
I’ve been using OpenWRT on this little beast and it’s by far the best high performance low power router on the market. Do know it runs HOT, I do recommend swapping the factory thermal pad with a 1mm pad to significantly improve thermals, ever since I swapped the pad temps never go above 55 on the SOC.

Doesn’t get full speed
I installed a fresh copy of OpenWRT 23.05.0 on it and I was maxing out around 815Mbit/sec instead of the 930+ that the same connection was capable of without the router in the mix. Sadly, not powerful enough to handle the full connection.

Für den Preis ein kleiner Top Router.Hab sonst immer MikroTik genommen aber der Pi wirkt mit seinem Metallgehäuse deutlich wertiger und mehr Leistung hat er auchnoch. Bin super zufrieden.

The power consumption is as low as one can get, and the device will not heat at all in normal use. I could not make the FriendlyElec firmware boot (I might have had a problem with the SD card I used), but OpenWRT worked perfectly. Everything I needed and tried out worked exactly as expected. Tuning OpenWRT will take some time, but that is the case with any advanced firmware.

Meine R2S gingen wieder zurück an Amazon. Schade, denn eigentlich sind das coole Teile.
