Solid, heavy quality
I’ve read many reviews on the packaging and damage during shipping for many of these cabinets. This came fully assembled with no damage at all. The only set up I did was adjusting the back rails all the way back. This is a very high quality rack. I highly recommend the back hinge if you plan on working in the rack regularly. I find that I open it up almost every time I need to do something in the rack. So much easier to work on it with free back access. For my low heat equipment, I like the open vents for free air flow. Steel is thick, welds look good, tolerances are tight, very confident in the build. Installed with 4 lag bolts (5/16x2in) into studs, holds strong. Again, highly recommend the hinged back for anyone that wants or needs to tinker in their rack frequently.

Very well built
Awesome Unit. Very well built. Arrived in perfect condition. Already assembled. It was a bit heavy, but my wife and I were able to wall mount it. Didn’t come with wall mounting screws, so you will need to buy those. Highly recommend.

Great Quality Rack
I was looking for a 12U wall-mountable rack for my new condo. The AV company that pre-wired the place (of course) wanted to sell me a Mid-Atlantic frame. I decided to go with the StarTech. The first thing I noticed is that it was much bigger than I expected. Well part of the reason is that Amazon sent me the 15U version. But that’s turned out to be a nice bonus. The rack is a beast! Very heavy and well-made. The hardware package is also high-quality. I bought the combo with the PDU. That is also very nice. I added a couple of fans, a patch panel, and I’m good to go. I’ve very happy with it.

Well contructed!
The StarTech enclosed rack cabinets cost a little more than other rack cabinets sold on Amazon but I think the extra cost is really worth it The StarTech racks are well built and very sturdy. The only complaint I have about the rack cabinet that I got is about the packaging for shipment. All sides of the cabinet that I received was protected with thick corrugated cardboards except for the bottom which was fully exposed! Because the bottom of the cabinet was not protected, my unit was badly scratched on the bottom. This cabinet is made to be flippable 180º to allow changing which way the back door opens. Fortunately, the default opening direction was fine with me so I didn’t need to flip the cabinet. But if I had to, I would have really been pissed to see the bottom of the cabinet, now to be the top, all scratched up!!!

Solid as a rock
This case, grounded by my friend who’s an electrician is very comforting when I have it loaded with batteries and charge controllers from a PV array in my westerly facing windows. Without the ground attachment, I would be afraid to touch it. I can’t think of a safer way to do Solar Power indoors. Thank you for making this delivery count Amazon. I believe we’ll be served more carefully for the foreseeable future.

I really like this cage. It weighs a lot so use caution when installing. It gives 16 holes in the back that are designed for 16 and 18 on center studs. I would advice that you find the studs in advance and use 3/4″ mdf as a backing. I covered the MDF with black vinyl edging which helps it to blend in and use black acrylic to finish it off for a perfect look. Ultimately, I used 16 bolts to hold it to the wall. At least 8 of the three inch hex bolts I used hit the stud and the rest are secured to the MDF. I also laid at least 30 2 inch screws into the MDF to further help secure it to the wall and studs, and angled down where into the drywall. In conclusion, I think my house will fall down before the cage will. The design of the hinged door is very impressive and works beautiful although you will need to consider the length of wires for when you need to install equipment.Something that would have been nice would have been a cutout for electrical, but for me the electrical was located in an adjacent wall along with all the incoming wires. After doing some cleanup I used a 2″ hole saw to cut two holes into the rear door side and used grommets to help protect the enormous amount of cabling.
