Small but powerful SSD thatâs worth every penny
The Crucial X9 Pro 2TB Portable SSD turned out to be an excellent choice for work and data storage. Its compact size â slightly larger than a credit card â makes it incredibly convenient for everyday use. This SSD not only takes up minimal space but also offers reliability with its IP55 dust and water resistance. The data transfer speed is impressive: I tested it using CrystalDiskMark, and it showed up to 1050 MB/s for reading and around 900 MB/s for writing, which is almost in line with the advertised specs. This greatly speeds up working with large files like videos and photos. The deviceâs sturdy rubberized casing adds confidence when traveling or using it in challenging conditions. However, the included cable is short, and you need a certified USB 3.2 Gen2 cable to achieve maximum speeds.Overall, this device is perfect for backup, storage, and data transfer. Small drawbacks like the short cable do not overshadow its overall performance. I highly recommend the Crucial X9 Pro to anyone looking for a portable and fast SSD

Great Value, Solid Performance â Just Watch Your Cables
Iâve been using the Crucial X9 2TB Portable SSD for over a year now, mainly for backing up my photo library, and itâs been a dependable and high-performing drive.âï¸ Build & Design:The drive is compact and sturdy, great for portability. The only downside is the included USB-C cable â itâs short. Not a big deal on a laptop, but itâs a bit inconvenient when plugging into the back of a desktop tower.âï¸ Speed & Performance:I did not use the stock cables initially because its quite short. Upon testing I wasnât getting the advertised read/write speeds. When I used the stock cable I got the advertised speeds for sequential writes/reads. Thus, I realized I was using third-party cables that werenât USB 3.0. If you need longer cables, take this into consideration.âï¸ Compatibility:Worked flawlessly on both my Windows 11 laptop and desktop â plug-and-play with no setup or reformatting needed.âï¸ Heat:It gets slightly warm during large file transfers, but nothing alarming. I havenât experienced any slowdowns or issues related to heat.âï¸ Value for money:I bought this for $108, and for 2TB of portable SSD storage from a reliable brand like Crucial, thatâs a steal. Zero problems after a year of use.

Compact Storage, Excellent Value
I can’t believe how small this SSD drive is, barely larger than a book of matches. I use this to store and access approximately 11,000 songs stored in uncompressed .flac and .wav format. This SSD is attached via USB to a desktop computer on my home network, and I access it as a shared drive for my Sonos system. It is always visible on the network (unlike the SSD it replaced, which would disappear if not accessed for a while). I have had no issues with speed or file access, although I am certainly not stressing it for its reading and writing capabilities or speeds. The drive came formatted as exFat, which works with all versions of Windows and modern versions of macOS. It can be formatted as Fat32 or NTFS if necessary.I have used Crucial memory and storage drives for years and have always found them to have rock solid reliability, and the pricing is competitive with other less reliable or no name brands. They are a division of Micron, and were the first company to sell memory directly to the consumer. I cannot speak to the longevity as I have not had the drive very long, but based on my past experience with Crucial I am confident it will last.

Nice little device to backup.
Great size and oustanding performance. One of the best option to backup.Crucial has a remarkable history as Memory provider and was a legacy fromMicron, ancient company that sold PCs back in the 90s. I would recommend thisCrucial X9 to anyone interested in backup and protect important documents anddata. Also the device have a nice design and was approved on several engnieeringtests. At this price it is a great choice.

So small! So light!
You don’t really get a sense for how small this is until you hold it in your hand. It’s much smaller than the SanDisk SSD that has the weird loop at the top, and is also thinner than the SanDisk. Incredible feat of engineering.I’m using this for Time Machine purposes on a Mac. Runs cool, and with Time Machine, speed isn’t of the essence. I went with an SSD because Time Machine requires APFS formatting, which doesn’t work well these days with spinning HDs.On my Mac Mini Pro 2, it connects at 10gbps when plugged directly into the Mac, but intermittently disconnects. I ascribe this more to the Mac than to this product, as I’ve seen other people having similar issues with other drives.I have a CalDigit TS3+ Thunderbolt dock plugged into my Mac, and it has a 10gbps USB-C port. When I plug this SSD into that port, it only connects at 5gpbs for reasons unclear. Since I’m using this for Time Machine, the difference between 5gbps and 10gbps is negligible, so I haven’t investigated this further. No intermittent disconnects plugged into the dock though. The cable they give you is a short 6-inch USB-C cable, which works well enough. This is overall a good “tweener” SSD. There are faster SSDs (2100MB/s), but they’re significantly more expensive, particularly for 4TB. For this speed (1050MB/s) and capacity (4TB), Crucial is the least expensive “brand I’ve heard of” that I would consider — it’s less expensive than SanDisk, Western Digital, or Samsung. Recommended.

What do I say? Very tiny and portable. Lightning fast transfer. The only downside is that the cable is very short. Also, the price is VERY reasonable.
